A.C.O.P.
(Adult Children of Parents)
(typed from an old fax: source unknown)

-
1. Did you have:
-
Parents (mother, father, both, neither, one but not the other)?
-
Step-parents?
-
Grandparents?
-
Foster-parents?
-
Adoptive parents?
-
Adult guardians?
-
2. Did they make you:
-
Learn to use the bathroom?
-
Got to bed?
-
Eat your vegetables?
-
Go to school?
-
Do your homework?
-
Do chores?
-
3. Did they fail to make you do any of the above, thereby depriving
you of self-discipline (and something to complain about)?
-
4. Did they say they loved you:
-
Too often?
-
Not often enough?
-
Enough, but at the wrong time?
-
Enough, but in the wrong way?
-
5. Were they:
-
Too rich, thereby spoiling you?
-
Too poor, thereby depriving you?
-
6. Did they ever say no to you?
If you answered 'yes' to even one of these questions you were probably
horribly traumatized and psychologically scarred for life. You need
intensive psychotherapy and lifelong group support at A.C.O.P.
Benefits of Being an A.C.O.P.
-
1. Whenever you succeed at something, do something well, or treat someone
nicely, you get double credit for having overcome your rotten parents and
hideous childhood.
-
2. Whenever you fail miserably, do something stupid, or treat other
people horribly, you are not responsible. Your parents are to blame.
-
3. At A.C.O.P. you can learn to whine with the best of them, and receive
social support for it.
.Remember, no matter how your parents raised you, no matter what they did,
they were wrong!!
