Dear Mr. Walker,
First, my compliments on your excellent web site. A most useful compendium of atheist principles and philosophy. I hope to enjoy your site for some time to come.
My reason for writing this? Twofold: I noticed that in one of your responses in Letters that you stated that atheists hardly ever write -- well sir, I'm 42 years of age and have been an atheist since my teenage years. No, this isn't a 'coming out' letter, I've never been shy about my atheism, I've just always dealt with the issues on a person-to-person level, which leads me to the second reason: I 'woke up' one day not to long ago and realized that the opposition has gained considerable ground and stands to gain more. In short, I realize that one can't sit smugly on the sidelines any more, one must become active if the on-going devolution into a theocracy is to be stopped. I credit your site with influencing my thinking in this.
So, you get to increase your 'atheist letter count' by 1 and the knowledge that you've prodded someone into doing something! I read your response to the letter 'I'd like to help' -- I'll take your advice and commence action. I'm not much of a letter writer but rest assured I'll do my part.
Sincerely,
Dave Keever
