Dear Cliff,
I agree that we need to get organized in order to combat the right-wing zealots. I have recently taken them on, in the local letters to the editors section of our local papers. Even though I have a lot to learn about this subject, I still slaughtered the one guy who was stupid enough to try to discredit my letter. I am definitely going to do more reading on your site to help me learn. From the reading I have done already, you seem like you would be a knowledgeable teacher.
I think more people would have the courage to do this if they felt there was a place they could turn to for help. No one relishes taking on the status quo and being publicly humiliated. Before you publish something locally you want to be sure that the information you have is absolutely correct. It takes knowledge, research, writing, and debate skills. Many people, including myself , don't have all these things. Is there a way we could form some kind of network to help people use that free newspaper space in the editorial sections with confidence about what they are sending in and signing their name to. If we as a group put all our heads together to write letters that discredit the crap these RR people keep spewing.
You have to realize some people can't sign their name to letters in their community for fear of financial repercussions and backlash. I would even be willing to lend my name to the responses in newspapers in other areas of the country.
From what I understand the Christian Coalitions numbers have dropped substantially. But a lot of the hog-wash they spread around as historical facts is still believed and around. People will continue to believe it is true until they are informed differently.
If I can get some help here, I am in a position to commit a good amount of time in the next six months to getting the year 2000 off to a more truthful start concerning our history and its "Christian Roots". You have to tear down before you can rebuild. If I can get some help, I plan on being the "Wrecking Ball from Hell"!!!!

I would be glad to help anybody do research, although this may mean me simply pointing you to the proper resources. Much of this cannot be learned overnight.
