Dear Cliff,
Don't want to take too much of you time, however, you invited me to respond to your treatment of Zawadzki. Actually, a few days before writing to you of your "saintly" status, I had spent considerable time with that series of correspondence. That was the original cause of my statement.
As I read through that stuff, I could see your temper flaring at the bigotry of the writer. It was immediately obvious, he is a self-righteous individual. It amazed me that, with the total disrespect he displayed, you never once told him to pull his head from his ass and view the sunlight. That you exercised such control still amazes me.
The last paragraph of your correspondence with Bruce, you said, "We are not sitting at a bar trying to come down from a tough day...to escape stressful situations."
I'm presently living in Finland, "teaching" English to adult students. The work is easy and most enjoyable. It isn't really teaching as my job is really to stimulate discussion. The students are quite able to carry on conversation. Well, the level is not quite high enough for major discussions of politics or religion. Also, I doubt those topics would advance the purposes of the classes.
The point of my rambling: At the end of each working day, I return home, mix a drink, and then, sit down to enjoy some of your discussions which I've copied at the office. So, you see, I kind of treat the reading of Positive Atheism as the answer to a not tough day. So, without your knowing it, there is one old American in Finland who drinks to your health almost every evening. I hope you will be healthy and carry on for many years with the enlightening discussion. It really is positive.
Sincerely,
Lynn Andersen
