Cliff's e-list dispatch had said: Michael Shermer says he will try a new approach, Friday, in debating what is supposed to be creationist Duane T. Gish's final debate of his career. Michael is wisely keeping mum as to what his new tack is, but will report next week. If anybody is in Phoenix, we'd appreciate a review of the debate... |
Oh, how I would love to see that debate! I just found out about it today, unfortunately. Had I known earlier, I would have made plans to attend it.
For years I have followed the ICR group, even receiving their propaganda. I am utterly intrigued by how they can maintain their belief system. Of course, you realize that they will publish a "summary" of the debate in their "Acts & Facts" or some such news letter. They always do. And no doubt it will boast that Gish trounced his opponent. I actually wrote ICR several polite letters asking them to please make a full transcript of the debates available. Of course, they never did.
Perhaps it's too late to make this suggestion, but I think it would be fantastic if Shermer publicly challenged Gish to make a full transcript (or video tape) of the debate available through ICR. I'd love to hear his response.
